Chamber Summer 2026: Wine Evening X Chamber Summer — Ritarihuone, Helsinki
Description was written before the event

The Chamber Summer wine concert returns to the Knight's House. The concert explores how wine pairings can influence the experience of music - familiar and new repertoire take on fresh meaning through the glass.

The programme features two works: Leevi Räsänen's new commission for string quartet and Johannes Brahms' clarinet quintet in A minor, op. 115. Räsänen's piece is performed twice, each time paired with a different wine, allowing the same music to unfold in two distinct contexts. In Räsänen's string quartet, the sparkle and ring of metal are heard and seen. The evening concludes with Brahms' late-period clarinet quintet, known for its dark tones, luminous melancholy, rich textures, and seamless orchestration.

The concert features, among others, violist Ellen Herler (Chamber Summer's patronage programme), cellist Alli Mankkinen (recently in the final of the Turku cello competition) and violinist Fredrika Mikkola (Paris Conservatory).
