Modern Classics is an exhibition series showcasing 20th-century artists from the National Gallery collection. The series opens with Elga Sesemann.

Elga Sesemann's (1922-2007) career offers a compelling example of a female artist's professional path in Finland. Her first solo exhibition in Helsinki in 1945 already captured the attention of critics and art audiences through its expressive style.

Sesemann's body of work is extensive - her active career continued, often evolving in its expression, until the mid-1990s.
