Joutsan Kotiseutuyhdistys organizes the programmed rural markets of Joutsan Joutopäivät. The event is free.

The markets open at 9.30 when Joutomies arrives with his music (Joutomies & Suonteebois). At 10.30 there is a programme about national costumes on stage - you are welcome to visit the markets in national dress - and an expert talk (Tuula Tanttula-Murto). At 11.00 the market dances begin with Aatu Kirenen as accompanist, continuing from 12.00. At 11.45 the Joutsa sahti championship opens, with the winner announced at 13.30.

At 12.45 Jouni Reinikainen and Ilmari Kontio discuss on stage what it means to be a summer Joutsalai: what does Joutsa and summer Joutsalaisuus mean?

The markets also feature craft demonstrations, an exhibition of old machinery, and laser shooting.
