Maitopojat & Suomilaiva 120 Years on Päijänne - Themed Cruise

The steamship s/s Suomi, launched in 1906, celebrates its 120th summer on Lake Päijänne. To mark this milestone, the vessel hosts a themed cruise that brings together Finnish culinary and musical heritage with steamship nostalgia.

The evening's performers are the duo Maitopojat, whose repertoire features songs by Hiski Salomaa, Jaakko Tepo, Veikko Lavi and Repe Helismaa, as well as the duo's own couplets. During the performances, stories are told about Finnish couplet masters and the origins of the songs.

During the cruise, an exhibition about s/s Suomi's history on Lake Päijänne is on display aboard. If desired, visitors can also request permission to visit the bridge or engine room and chat with the captain or chief engineer.
