Veikko Ahvenainen's Accordion Sounds in Joutsa
Veikko Ahvenainen performs in Joutsa with his wife Carina. The programme features beloved classic melodies - starting with "Summer Evening Waltz" - and Veikko himself hosts the concert. The East Häme Accordionists add colour.
Veikko began playing accordion in Kuopio at age 9 and made his radio debut on Yleisradio with his own programmes in 1947, at age 18. International tours began in the 1960s: he has performed solo concerts in Moscow's Tchaikovsky Hall and Washington Cathedral - the first accordionist in the world to perform in both venues. His credentials include 1,088 recordings for various record companies and 31 marathons, 12 of them in New York.
At the concert venue, Veikko's autobiography "Accordion Memories" and his and Carina's new CD with 24 summer hits are available for purchase.
Admission is 15 €, and tickets are sold at the door.
