WISDOM AND FOLLY

Looking around, it seems the world's course is not guided by wisdom. Yet perhaps wisdom can be found more readily if we understand where it is lacking.

This discussion programme features philosophy doctoral researcher Anu Virtanen, literature studies docent Maria Laakso, and social philosophy professor Arto Laitinen. The panel also includes EDUCA flagship coordinator Anna Roikonen and youth researcher Tomi Kiilakoski. The programme is hosted by Jarno Hietalahti, the world's first docent of the philosophy of humour, and professor Hannu L. T. Heikkinen, who leads the Academy of Finland research project Wisdom in Practice.

Participants in brief:
Hannu Heikkinen is a professor at the Institute of Educational Research at the University of Jyväskylä. Jarno Hietalahti has recently focused especially on reflecting on tricksters - mythological jesters. Tomi Kiilakoski is a research leader at the Youth Research Society and studies youth participation, youth work, and cultural philosophy questions. Arto Laitinen is interested in societal ideals and pathologies. Maria Laakso is a literature researcher (PhD, docent) and science writer whose research focuses on the many forms of literary humour. Anna Roikonen is project manager for the JYU.Edu impact pillar at the University of Jyväskylä. Anu Virtanen works as a project researcher at the Institute of Educational Research and studies philosophical dialogue as a transformative practice for human development and wisdom.
