Towards the Unknown - Pasi Pitkänen's Illustrations of Thrilling Adventures

Pasi Pitkänen's illustration exhibition showcases mysterious places, strange creatures, magical serpents and captivating runes - images where tension and danger walk hand in hand. The exhibition is drawn from Pitkänen's extensive illustration portfolio and is aimed at children and young people.

The exhibition features images from book series where Pitkänen is an equal collaborator alongside the authors: Pate (Timo Parvela), Kepler62 (Timo Parvela and Bjørn Sortland), Paavali Pattinen (Hannele Lampela) and Ouroboros (Silja Sillanpää).

The exhibition offers a comprehensive supporting programme for schools and families. On International Literacy Day, 8 September, there is a morning event for schoolchildren, and on Saturday 19 September a family day - Pasi Pitkänen will be present at both. Monday mornings are reserved for school workshops in the exhibition space.

Pasi Pitkänen is a graphic designer graduate from Aalto University and has worked as an illustrator, character designer and graphic artist at Rovio Entertainment. He currently works as a freelance illustrator and spends part of the year in Japan. The exhibition has been produced by Salla Fornaro from Vuotalo's cultural services and Emilia Kämäräinen from Vuosaari Library in collaboration with Pitkänen.

Admission to the exhibition and events is free. The exhibition is open 13.8-26.9.2026.
