Arts Night at Vuotalo

Vuotalo celebrates Arts Night with two programmes: an exhibition opening and dancing.

4-6 PM / Vuotalo Hall

The opening of the exhibition "Towards the Unknown" celebrates illustrator Pasi Pitkänen's new show. Pitkänen draws live during the event, sketching his famous snake train from the Ouroboros series, and snake candy and juice will be served. The exhibition runs 13 August - 26 September 2026. Note: on Monday mornings the exhibition space is reserved for school workshops.

Pasi Pitkänen is an illustrator, author and graphic designer who graduated from Aalto University and previously worked at Rovio Entertainment as a character designer. He now works as a freelancer and spends part of the year in Japan.

6-8 PM / Vuotori

At the closing celebration of the city dance season, Dance Theatre Tsuumi performs "Improvised Evenings", blending improvised dance and music with Finnish evening traditions. After the performance, free dancing follows to live music - the dancing begins with a teaching session in the style of city dance.

Both events are free to enter.
