Stoa's Life Festival x Middle East Jam Festival - Night of the Arts
ilmainen
Middle East Jam Festival arrives at Stoa's square during the Night of the Arts. ME Jam is a community celebration of music, dance, and culture showcasing art from the Middle East and North Africa.
The square features performances by the Middle Eastern Orchestra, along with dance and performance pieces, and a film screening in collaboration with Kulturhuset Kamera rf. Organizations will also present their work. The full programme will be announced during the summer.
Workshops run from 5 pm to 8 pm on Stoa's square:
The Meadow Sounds! - rhythm instrument workshop - Build sounding creatures from recycled and natural materials and become part of a rhythmic swarm. Led by art educator Jenni Vilander.
Community plant mat - To celebrate the Life Festival, we create a shared striped mat of plants that tells the story of summer's growing season. Led by designer Tanja Valta.
Pyrography workshops - On the dead wood sculpture in Stoa's meadow, we burn animal tracks and words from the Animal Kingdom Manifesto (written by Anni Kytömäki). Led by artist Petra Martin.
Postcard for the pollinator - In this workshop, paint a postcard for pollinating insects using biodegradable paint, then sprinkle seeds of native pollinator plants on it. You can later bury the postcard in the ground, and a patch of wildflower meadow will grow. Led by Verna Kuntsi and Satu Sipilä from the Adventure Art School.
At 5 pm and 6:30 pm, Teatteri Q0's puppet theatre piece The Meadow is shown in Stoa's music hall. Free tickets are distributed during the event - read more in the event listing: The Meadow.
Free admission. In collaboration with ME Jam and Stoa.
