This workshop opens up the invisible life of soil through direct experience and strengthens participants' soil literacy. The exact time will be confirmed - check Haihatuksen's website and social media channels.
Participants work with safe microbes and natural materials: they conduct experiments where microbes leave visible traces on colored growth substrates and build Winogradsky columns, where soil microbial layers and living processes become visible over time. Those who wish can bring their own soil sample, connecting the work to their own environment and memories.
The focus is on process - observation, tracking change, and shared reflection. The work is structured around discussions exploring what traces we leave in the environment, what traces microbes leave in us, and what memory traces we pass on to future generations.
The workshop suits people of all ages and requires no prior knowledge. It is led by visual artist Johanna Rotko and doctoral researcher Ida Pohjanlehto. Organizer: Haihatuksen henki ry, [email protected], +358401531488.
