Wood Days

What can we learn from the process of decay - from trees as individuals, as a community, and as a society?
In summer 2026, Wood Days approaches decay through dance, poetry, music, and visual art. Over two days, we pause by the trees to explore connection, fragility, change, and continuity. Mari Hämäläinen's tree-themed photographs are on display throughout the event.
On Friday 31.7. at 19.00, the Kaatuva Hevonen Kyljellään Hyönteinen collective presents a dance-improvisation performance, with dancer Jaakko Kuikka as a guest musician. In the performance, dance moves between perspectives of humanity and trees, poetry flows into movement and music.
On Saturday 1.8. from 14.00 to 18.00, a wood workshop is held where exercises from the "I am a tree" project are shared. The workshop includes silence, movement, and writing, as well as discussion about decay and our own relationship with trees. Registration: maijaripatti@posteo.net
Venue: Ekoateljee, Puuskakuja 21, Helsinki. Free entry.
