Art History Walks: Meilahti — Haartmaninkatu 8, Helsinki, Helsinki
Free entry

This walking tour explores the Meilahti campus area, one of the most significant sites in Finnish hospital architecture. The complex is architecturally diverse, featuring early functionalism, 1960s architecture, and contemporary buildings from the 2000s.

The tours are organized by the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Helsinki, with art history students serving as guides. The summer programme includes 13 different walks in total. The Meilahti walk takes place on 24.7. and 30.7.2026 from 14.00 to 15.00. Entry is free, and the walks are conducted in Finnish - regardless of weather.

The meeting point is in front of Biomedicum 1 at the flagpoles, Haartmaninkatu 8. It is recommended to arrive 5-10 minutes before the start.

Accessibility: the walk is largely accessible. The buildings have accessible entrances and lifts. The route runs mainly on tiled areas and asphalt roads, but also includes a short gravel path, unevenly tiled surfaces, and short - some steep - uphill and downhill sections.
