Improa! - Improvised Opera Performance

Improa! is an opera improvisation group where no one on stage - not even the performers - knows in advance what will happen next. From an idea given by the audience, an aria emerges that can move people to tears or make them laugh heartily, and it is never repeated.

Opera improvisation combines theatre and music improvisation: scenes are sung in classical style, and the performers invent the story, text, music, and stage expression in the moment. The audience gets to influence the performance from characters to plot, themes, and genres.

Improa! was founded in 2005, and the group consists of professional opera singers and pianists specializing in improvisation.
