Reading Dog at Martinlaakso Library

Reading dog Aliina (Jack Russell Terrier) and her owner Helena Soukka continue their work in autumn 2026 at Martinlaakso Library in Vantaa. Aliina has completed the Finnish Kennel Club's reading dog training programme. Reading sessions are held every third Wednesday from 18:00 to 19:00, with each reader allocated 15 minutes per session.

Time can be booked at the library's customer service desk or by calling 043 825 0909. Aliina will be present on the following dates: 2.9., 23.9., 14.10., 4.11., 25.11. and 16.12.2026.

Readers can bring books from the library or their own books to read to the dog - she does not judge or comment on mistakes, slow pace, or hesitation. The activity suits anyone who wants to build reading confidence. The reading dog programme is part of animal-assisted activities and is based on voluntary participation.
