Tervola Group: Mirjami's Poems - Kanneltalo Thursday Matinee

Mirjami Lehto, 94, spent her working life as a teacher in Tervola and has written an enormous number of poems. Tervola Group presents a collection of 50 of her poems.

The poems explore the nature of the North, everyday life and its moments of joy, and love. Particularly moving are the poems about marginalized young people, whom Lehto came to know through her work as a special education teacher in her final working years. The collection also addresses aging and ultimately death - themes she describes with cheerful irony. Markus Fagerudd has set music to several of the poems.

The performers are Tervola Group: Eila Halonen, Markku Huhtamo, Juhani Laitala, Juha Mäntylä, Marja Pesonen, and Timo Pylkkänen. The performance lasts 1 hour.
