Dance Time 2026: what prevents being
On the opening day of Dance Time, Blomstedtin Hall presents two solo works by artists from Central Finland and Pirkanmaa. The programme opens with Katja Sallinen's "what prevents being", making its debut, followed by Leevi Rauhalahti's solo work "Wounding the World". One ticket grants access to both performances.
"what prevents being" is a dance work for anyone who has ever felt out of place, too much, too little, or simply awkwardly present. The piece addresses fraud, shame, and the weight of existence in a gently anarchic manner - uncertainty and difficulty are not hidden or solved away, but rather one learns to live with them. At times they are even invited into a cautious embrace.
The work builds through attempts, stumbles, waiting, endurance, exposure, and fresh starts. The exposed body seeks glimpses of freedom even in the most confined situations.
