Open Writers' Meetings

Open Writers' Meetings is a free writing workshop open to everyone, where participants write short texts based on assignments from the instructor. Participants read their texts aloud and give each other encouraging feedback. The workshop offers practice in transforming observations and feelings into text, and introduces the basics of character description and storytelling.

You can bring one short text to read aloud, but the focus is on shared writing exercises. You can participate as many times as you wish - no registration or course fee is required.

The workshop meets six times in autumn 2026 on Wednesdays: 9.9., 23.9., 7.10., 21.10., 4.11. and 18.11. from 18:00 to 19:30. The venue is the Kanerva meeting room at Itäkeskus Library. The workshop is organized by Helsinki Workers' Institute in collaboration with the library, and the instructor is Arhippa Ristimäki.
