Harju Observation Tower — Harju / Vesilinna näkötorni, Jyväskylä

The pine-forested Harju rises just beside Jyväskylä's city centre, and Vesilinna with its observation tower, located at the summit, is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. From the tower's top, a 360-degree panorama unfolds across Jyväskylä - lake landscapes, city, and surrounding nature all visible at once.

The tower also houses the University's Natural History Museum and Vesilinna restaurant, so a visit can be combined with coffee or a meal. The observation tower is open according to Vesilinna Cafe & Restaurant's hours - current information should be checked on the restaurant's website.

Entry is free. The tower is accessible by lift, but reaching the viewing platform requires climbing stairs, so the site is not fully accessible. On summer evenings, Harju's evening concert rings out from Vesilinna's summit every night at 20:00 - a tradition since 1976.

There are a few parking spaces at Harju's summit for cafe-restaurant and museum visitors. Cars can also be parked at the Harjunrinne parking area on Yliopistonkatu.
