Love & Loss - Art Exhibition

Love & Loss is a joint exhibition by Jonna Jokikunnas and Ninni Melender, dedicated to nature, letting go, and love. The opening takes place on Saturday, August 1st at 4 p.m. at TakeMeHome Gallery on Katajanokka.

Jonna Jokikunnas's oil paintings represent poetic realism and explore the fragility of life, its transience, and nature's quiet power. All works in this exhibition are painted entirely on wood, making the wood's natural surface and forms an essential part of the artistic expression.

Ninni Melender participates with her DoGGGs miniature tapestry series, themed around grief and loss - and the realization that love is always the counterpoint to these feelings. The series began as a tribute to her mother's memory: this gave rise to the miniature tapestry "Blackbird singing in the Death of Night" featuring a blackbird on a pink branch of love, and from this developed an intuitive series in which various bird figures journey through the grieving process.
