National Costume Airing Day
National Costume Airing Day takes place in Esplanade Park near the Runeberg statue on 9.8.2026 from 13.00 to 15.00. You can bring your national costume or part of it to air, and the day is celebrated with picnic food, music and dancing. Admission is free and no registration is required. A group photo will be taken around 15.00.
The programme features:
- Minttu Hellsten, singer - ancient folk songs
- Inehmo choir, which follows the path of ancient runes and melodies of kindred peoples: birth songs, animal stories, Mordvin dissonances and Ingrian melodies
- Sudenmorsiamet, an Ingrian Finnish folk singing group from Finland that performs Ingrian singing tradition with traditional songs and their own arrangements
- Röntyskä folk music and dance group, a group of Ingrian Finns living in Estonia who preserve Ingrian röntyskä tradition through singing and dancing
- Karjalan nuoret, folk dancing and music
During the programme, Inga Pihlhjerta will present several national costumes.
