Song Stream - From Ingria to Karelia - DuoCasten & Rinne feat. Artemius | Sattuma Duo | Anne-Mari Kivimäki

An Ingrian-Karelian themed concert brings three musical ensembles to the Kanneltalo stage - DuoCasten & Rinne feat. Artemius, Sattuma Duo, and Anne-Mari Kivimäki - alongside dancers Minna Karttunen and Jyrki Haapala. The programme draws from both tradition and contemporary music, with several songs featuring all artists performing together.

Musician and composer Anne-Mari Kivimäki has developed her own playing style, accordion trance, and is recognized as one of today's most compelling folk music artists. In this concert, she presents songs from her Emma-nominated album Kotiin alongside previews of new work. The audience is invited to dance and immerse themselves in the hypnotic accordion trance and the rustling atmospheres of archival recordings.

Sattuma Duo consists of Arto and Eila Rinne - father and daughter - who perform Karelian and Finnish folk music alongside their own compositions rooted in tradition, sung in various Karelian dialects and Finnish. The duo is part of the band Sattuma, founded in Petrozavodsk in 2003, and the programme features selections from the band's extensive repertoire: jouhikko melodies, Vepsian incantations, and Ingrian-Finnish röntysköer. Arto Rinne, known as a folk-rock musician, has championed Karelian music for over 40 years.

DuoCasten & Rinne was formed in 2025 in Kouvola. Singers and musicians Arto Rinne and Nina Castén perform Karelian, Ingrian, and Finnish-language folk music whose roots reach back to their native regions in Russian Karelia - Nina Castén, Arto, and Eila Rinne all hail from East Karelia. Castén, with Ingrian heritage, has established herself as a world music performer with a distinctive deep voice. Violinist Artemius brings virtuosic skill to the ensemble, and the concert also features the duo's new music video.

Dancers Minna Karttunen and Jyrki Haapala have spent decades creating international performance art works and engaging with Karelian cultural heritage.
