Åsne Seierstad in conversation with Erkka Mikkonen
Pohjoismainen kulttuuripiste, Helsinki
ilmainen
An author meeting bringing together Norwegian war correspondent Åsne Seierstad and Finnish foreign correspondent Erkka Mikkonen. Both share their experiences from contemporary Russia.
Seierstad travelled to Russia when other journalists left after the war began. During the meeting, she opens up about her perspective on the country's current situation based on her book Ufred - Russland fra innsiden (Finnish: Rauhattomuus - Venäjä sisältä käsin). Previously, she has reported from Afghanistan, Iraq, and Chechnya. Mikkonen is a former Moscow correspondent for Yle and also discusses his own book Homona Putinin Venäjällä.
The event is organized in collaboration with Gummerus, which publishes the Finnish translation of Seierstad's work. The translation is by Onerva Kuusi.
The discussion is conducted in English, with excerpts from the book heard in both Norwegian and Finnish. Free admission.
