Author Mirva Karkinen on Visit

Author Mirva Karkinen visits Kallion Library to present her debut novel Leviatan (Aviador 2026). During the event, she will discuss the novel's themes, intentions, and creative process, and read excerpts from the book.

Leviatan tells the story of women waiting for a breakthrough - but before resolution comes, humans must stretch to their limits, which is why screams echo from the women's restrooms. The work addresses the position of modern women with aggressive force and delves into the misogyny that dwells in society's depths. Leviatan is a narrative about inequality, but above all a voice for empathy.

Mirva Karkinen (born 1994) is a Helsinki-based writer with a master's degree in literature and philosophy. Her research interests include literature, power, and gender. She has previously published feminist literary criticism and essays on the book industry.

During the event, it will be possible to borrow the book from the library or purchase a signed copy from the author.
