The evening is built on simplicity and silence. Arvo Pärt drew inspiration from the meditative devotion of Orthodox church singing, while Ralph Vaughan Williams drew from the sound of English Renaissance polyphony - both found their way to music's original sources. Young Italian composer Simone Piraino completes the programme with the world premiere of Iam et nondum.

The evening is dedicated to strings: the wind instruments rest, and unified string sections carry the entire concert. In Vaughan Williams' Concerto Grosso, the orchestras of Finland's Music Campus also take the stage.
