Granfelt & Nikku: Classic Guitar Rock

Ben Granfelt and Jarmo Nikku meet on stage to perform classic guitar rock compositions. The two musicians have played together before, and these concerts give both guitarists room to expand their musical horizons - especially through improvisation.

Jarmo Nikku describes the collaboration this way: "I enjoy playing with Ben and the band because there's always a 'sense of danger' when there's space for improvisation. We come from such different scenes - Ben has played in bands where solos are long constructions, and my roles have been more sideman-type. In this group you can build however you want. My youthful taste in music shows itself quite well on this tour."

Ben Granfelt in turn says: "I've known Jarmo since I sold him strings and picks at the Guitar Workshop around -85. We've played together many times, and these Classic Guitar Rock concerts are a great way to continue our collaboration. Jarmo is that 'Guitar George, he knows all the chords' type from 'Sultans of swing', a fantastic musician and a fine man."

The programme features songs from both musicians' careers as well as selected guitar rock classics. The rhythm section consists of Masa Maijanen (bass) and Jari Salminen (drums).
