Christian Langenskiöld: Leavetaking

Christian Langenskiöld's exhibition Leavetaking at Fotogallery Hippolyte comprises five photographic works: four slide viewers for large-format film and one stereoscope. Each work is handcrafted using wood that the artist found at a location connected to his youth.

The exhibition draws from summers the artist spent in Raaseborg and a journey to Sicily with his longtime friend Diana. Diana had a deep personal connection to the island, and during the trip they visited places from her earlier life. The photographs come from this journey and Diana's home environment - as do the wooden materials used in the works.

The series reflects on places and experiences where personal memories intersect with broader cultural and historical layers. In the landscapes, architecture, and everyday spaces, one sees changes that have occurred over time.
