Viapori Jazz: Mother of Jazz

Aki Rissanen brings Mary Lou Williams' classic Zodiac Suite to Helsinki on Saturday, 29 August 2026 at Tenalji von Fersen. The historic casemate building on Kustaanmiekka island off the coast of Helsinki provides a distinctive setting for concerts - spacious vaulted corridors and stone structures create a unique backdrop for this tribute to one of jazz history's most significant figures. Rissanen and Selma Savolainen perform Williams' ambitious work, whose twelve movements are dedicated to major musicians of the era. Aki Rissanen's Finnish tour spans two dates, with Helsinki as the first stop. Admission is 43 euros.
