A mysterious soldier (Sandra Hüller) arrives in a remote Protestant village in Germany during the Thirty Years' War. The stranger, whose face is scarred by a gunshot wound, claims to be the heir to an abandoned estate and presents documents to prove it. Markus Schleinzer's austere film, based on true events, tells the story of a woman who assumed a man's role and earned the villagers' trust through her hard work and deeds. Sandra Hüller won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at this year's Berlin Film Festival.
