Jazz for Kids: Viba

Jazz for Kids is a series of high-quality jazz concerts welcoming all ages - from infants to grandparents. Professional musicians perform their own material at child-friendly volume in easily accessible cultural centre venues.

At Annantalo, singer-songwriter Viba (Virva Immonen) takes the stage, blending alt-pop, jazz and poetry in her Finnish-language music. The band released their second album Harso in 2025. The lyrics explore the boundary between sleep and wakefulness. Viba performs as a duo with bassist Oskari Siirtola - their first time in this configuration. Beyond vocals and bass, the pair also play synthesizers.

The event runs for 45 minutes: the band performs for approximately 35 minutes, followed by a chance for the audience to meet the musicians and see the instruments. Group registrations open at kultus.hel.fi from 8.9.

Jazz for Kids concerts are also held at Helsinki's cultural centres at Vuotalo on 3.9. and Maunula-talo on 19.9. The concert is part of the Jazz Finland 100 jubilee programme, coordinated by the Finnish Jazz Federation. The jubilee year highlights Finnish jazz and its creators in Finland and abroad - 2026 marks 100 years since jazz symbolically arrived in Finland aboard the ship Andania.
