Italian architectural historian Luca Placci delivers a public lecture series on 7-8 September 2026 exploring the Italian influences and contacts of Alvar, Aino and Elissa Aalto, as well as Aalto's architecture as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The lectures take place in Jyväskylä, Muurame and Säynätsalo.

The lecture series is part of the Alvar Aalto Society's 60th anniversary celebration, Jyväskylä Summer University and the University of Jyväskylä programme. Partners include the Alvar Aalto Foundation, Tavolo Bianco/Säynätsalo municipal building, Muurame parish and Muurame municipality.

The ceremonial hall of the University of Jyväskylä's main building is used for doctoral defences, academic year openings and other formal university events. The main building was designed by Alvar Aalto and completed in 1952. Events are also streamed online.
