Reading Dog Martta

Want to practice reading aloud? A reading dog is a patient listener who makes reading stress-free. The reading dog Martta, trained by the Finnish Kennel Club, visits Lumon Library.

Martta is available twice a month on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. In autumn 2026, the meeting dates are 10.9., 24.9., 8.10., 22.10., 5.11., 19.11., 3.12., and 17.12. Each reading session lasts up to 15 minutes, and you can read from your own book or choose from the library's collection. Martta's owner is present throughout.

The recommended age is 5 years and up. Children under school age must be accompanied by an adult.

Book your time at Lumon Library's information desk or by phone at 043 825 1305. A reading dog is a reading companion, not a playmate - focus on reading. You may pet the dog, but ask the owner's permission first.
