Hong Liu-Sertti: Reinterpreting Kalevala

The exhibition continues the body of work shown in Hyvinkää in 2025 and examines Kalevala from a contemporary art perspective. The works do not retell the epic's stories as they are, but reinterpret its myths, characters, and cultural memory through images, materials, and personal experiences.

"Reinterpretation" refers both to a new way of reading the classical text and to reflections on identity, memory, and tradition. In Helsinki, the works encounter a new environment and the cultural experience of today.
