Kantele Day Concert

Kantele Day is celebrated annually across Finland to honour the kantele as a national Finnish instrument and showcase the diversity of kantele culture. In Jyväskylä, the day has been marked with a concert for several years.

For the second year running, the concert takes place at Palokan Pelimannitalo, in the basement of the Finnish Kantele Museum. The stage features musicians of various ages from across Central Finland - from hobbyists to professionals - performing both as ensembles and soloists. The programme includes kanteles of different sizes and types, as well as various musical styles.

This year marks the first performance of the Finnish Kantele Museum's own kantele ensemble, Skammarit, which was founded in autumn 2025. The venue has a café.
