Dance and Nature Workshops - for Grades 3-6

These workshops are designed for students in grades 3-6 who are interested in dance, performance, and nature. No previous dance experience is required. We expect participants to commit to the full autumn season.

In the workshops, we explore different ways to dance and move, both individually and together. We create our own dances and short performances on various themes - you can also bring your own music and dance ideas. Meetings are held both in the dance studio and in the forests near Vuosaari.

The workshops are led by dancer and dance educator Jenni Koistinen and dancer and choreographer Virva Talonen. During the autumn, researchers Anna Rainio and Tuija Kasa will also visit the workshops. The workshops are part of the "Art of Knowing" project at the University of Helsinki, funded by the Kone Foundation. The workshops are held in Vuotalo's Pikkasali and in the forests near Vuosaari. Exact meeting locations will be announced to registered participants before the course begins. The workshops are conducted in Finnish, and in Swedish and English if needed.

⏰ Thursdays 16:30-17:30: 17.9., 24.9., 1.10., 8.10., 22.10., 29.10., and 5.11.2026. Not on the Thursday during the autumn break week on 15.10.
