Old Forest Echoes - Ikimetsän kaiku: Immersive Nature Concert - Caisa 30 Club

Old Forest Echoes - Ikimetsän kaiku is a concert experience born from a desire to protect Finland's old-growth forests. The work is created by internationally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Barbora Xu (Barbora Šilhánová), who spent four months conducting artistic research in old-growth forests. The concert centers on kantele, Chinese zither, and voice, complemented by video and forest soundscapes.

The performance takes place in an indoor forest installation built by environmental artist Tommi Laine from natural materials. Mikko H. Haapoja's soundscape installation combines Barbora's field recordings from the forest with video material filmed by cinematographer Ville Tanttu.

Lecture and Workshops

The 60-minute concert is complemented on Saturday, October 31 with a lecture on Finland's old-growth forests - presented by Milla Aalto, forest expert at the Finnish Nature League. On Sunday, November 1, music workshops are held for different groups: a longer session for adults and a shorter workshop for families with children. Sessions last 45 or 90 minutes and take place in the same immersive environment. Workshops are conducted in Finnish and English.
