Maria Koolen Hellmin & Johanna Byström Sims: The McGurk Effect

The exhibition title refers to a phenomenon in which hearing and sight influence each other: when the auditory stimulus of one sound is combined with the visual manifestation of another sound, an entirely new sensory experience emerges.

Koolen Hellmin and Byström Sims engage in an artistic dialogue grounded in their shared interests. Science, space, transparency, musical form, and language are subjects through which they have found common ground for their work at the intersection of the material and immaterial - an exploration of how perception becomes distorted and opens up when different forms of expression are interpreted.

This time, attention is focused on the north wind. The wind that traditionally unites the Nordic region gathers, scatters, blows away, shifts suddenly, and brings back. Perhaps at this point in history it tears apart rather than holds together?
