Samu Kuukka: Lust for Night

Lust for Night is a photographic series exploring the nightlife of a major city - its hedonism, rituals, transgressions and mythology. The photographic approach is impressionistic and surrealistic: bohemian night wanderers, artists, actors, musicians, philosophers, poets, models and other demimonde figures claim the city as their own once the bourgeoisie have switched off the bedside lamp.

Samu Kuukka is a Helsinki-based visual artist, filmmaker and musician whose works examine what it means to be human in the age of postmodernism and late capitalism. He seeks out fleeting bittersweet glimpses of beauty and melancholy - and typically finds them in liminal places and moments.
