Goldsmith of the Year 2026

Mauri Haapamäki, founder of Aspenhill Design Oy, represents a rare and nearly vanishing silversmith craft in Finland. The Finnish Goldsmiths' Association has chosen him as Goldsmith of the Year 2026 to highlight this endangered traditional skill.

Silversmith work is a parallel profession within the goldsmith trade and involves the manufacture of large silver objects for everyday use using traditional methods - lathe work, hammering, and pressing. This skill develops only through long experience and practice.

The exhibition is on display at the Finnish Clock and Jewellery Museum Kruunu from 16.9.-29.11.2026. Opening hours: Wed-Sat 11.00-17.00 (Sat 19.9. closed) and Sun 10.00-17.00. Admission 0-15 €.
