Liikkeellä in November - Mélanie Demers: Inner Mythology Workshop

In the Inner Mythology workshop, participants explore how their own "inner mythology" resonates in movement and performance. The physical work navigates the boundary between private vulnerability and public expression - intimité and extimité - and the workshop examines how movement choices create meaning and carry one's own voice. Collaboration is also central: how one's personality, style, and energy intersect with the qualities of fellow dancers.

Mélanie Demers' work Confession Publique is part of the Liikkeellä in November festival at Stoa on 5-6.11.

Participation in one workshop costs 35 €, for members of Tanssille ry 25 €. Participation in this workshop and the one held on 7.11 at 12:00 together costs 60 €, for members 40 €.

Mélanie Demers is a multidisciplinary artist and founder of the Montreal-based dance group MAYDAY. She is known for hybrid works combining poetry and politics that transcend genre boundaries, and has created over thirty choreographies presented in over forty cities worldwide. Her most significant works include the CALQ Awards-winning WOULD and Confession Publique, as well as the internationally touring Animal Triste and Cabaret Noir. In theatre, she has directed Jordan Tannahill's Déclaration and produced the performance l'amour ou rien in 2025. Demers has received the GRAND PRIX de la danse de Montréal 2021, the NAC Award 2024, and the Canada Council for the Arts Molson Prize 2025. She teaches at Canada's leading theatre schools and works regularly with radio and television.
