Maunula Proge 9: Qumma Connection, Avaruusasema

Maunula Proge 9 features two bands: Avaruusasema and Qumma Connection. A café operates in the foyer before the shows and during the interval.

Entry is free but a ticket is required. Tickets become available on Monday, October 5 through the event link and at the Maunula Library service desk. A limited number of door tickets are reserved and can be requested on-site half an hour before the event starts.

Qumma Connection

Qumma is a long-established musician and visual artist who plays relatively rare instruments: the Chapman Stick and Warr guitar. He previously performed with bands including Paha Kurki, Faunin Iltapäivä, and Kärpästen Herra, before visual art drew him into his own universe for several years. Musical ideas, however, never left him alone, and new compositions gradually matured in the background.

Eventually, Qumma assembled a lineup of musicians he had encountered over the years. Thus Qumma Connection was born - originally intended as a studio project with a flexible lineup that could change from performance to performance. The first album Arabesque was released in 2008 and received a warm reception in progressive rock circles worldwide. To date, four Qumma Connection albums and two solo albums under the name Qumma have been released. After the latest album Marginal Music From Behind The Black Mirror (2024), it was time to bring the band to the stage - this is Qumma Connection's first live performance since its formation.

Avaruusasema

Avaruusasema is a Helsinki-Imatra pop-prog band founded in 2017. The band's music has evolved through krautrock, hazy prog, and neon-coloured pop-rock towards an increasingly distinctive direction. Organic sound and live performance are the cornerstones of the band.
