Echoes of the South - Duo Verde

Duo Verde presents music from Argentina and Brazil performed on flute and guitar. The ensemble consists of Janina Lehto and Janne Lehtinen, members of the AURINKO Música de Latinoamérica group. The concert programme features works by composers Claudia Montero, Astor Piazzolla, Radamés Gnattali, and Heitor Villa-Lobos.

Janina Lehto (b. 1981) studied flute at the Lahti and Helsinki universities of applied sciences (Metropolia) under Rainer Risberg and Eeva Heikkilä, graduating in 2008. Her playing combines classical training with the rhythmic traditions of Latin American music.

Janne Lehtinen (b. 1959) began guitar studies at the Tampere Music Institute in 1972 and continued at the Sibelius Academy under Kari Äikäs. He completed his diploma in 1983 and gave his first academy concert in spring 1986. His master class teachers have included John Williams, Jorge Cardoso, and Jorge Morel. Lehtinen has performed and recorded music by composers including John Zaradin, Gustavo Nasuti, Juan Falú, Jorge Cardoso, and Hernán Navarro, and has released music on his Kistu label and digital platforms such as Spotify.
