Aavikko is a Finnish synth trio from Siilinjärvi, active since 1995. The band - Tomi Kosonen (keyboards, saxophone), Tomi Leppänen (drums) and Paul Staufenbiel (keyboards) - plays what they call 'muysic', a blend of retrofuturist Eastern-bloc synthesizer grooves and insistently danceable melodies. Their motto 'We play - you dance!' is not just a slogan: live sets by the cult act are famously hard to sit through without moving. Seven studio albums span from the 1997 debut Derek! to the 2023 disco-leaning Sound of Muysic.
Aavikko released a new single titled 'To Me' in 2025.
Aavikko performed at Maxim in Kuopio on 23 January 2026, on a bill with Helsinki synth-pop duo Modem.
Aavikko appeared at the Teurastamo Festival in Helsinki in summer 2025.
Aavikko was announced as a performer at Festivaali 2025 in Tampere (Pyynikki).
Aavikko released their seventh studio album Sound of Muysic, featuring guest vocalist Nicole Willis, to strong reviews in Finland.
