Reino "Reiska" Laine (b. 11 July 1946, Helsinki) is a Finnish jazz drummer, composer and cultural activist who has shaped Finnish jazz since the late 1960s. He came to international attention in 1967 when Eero Koivistoinen's band - with Laine on drums - won the group competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival, a result widely regarded as the first international recognition of Finnish jazz; the win led to an appearance at the Newport Jazz Festival. Over a career spanning more than sixty years, Laine has played on over a hundred albums and worked with virtually every major Finnish jazz bandleader, earning the Yrjö Award in 1981, the Suomen Jazzlegenda title in 2010 and the Andania lifetime achievement award in 2022.
Laine turned 80 on 11 July 2026 and celebrated with a special sextet concert on the Lokkilava stage at Pori Jazz, open to all audiences.
Yle reported that Laine remains an active musician at 80 and has played at every Pori Jazz festival since its founding in 1966.
Jazz Finland awarded Laine the Andania Award for lifetime achievement in Finnish jazz at Tampere Jazz Happening in November 2022.
Laine formed the Reiska Laine Quintet in summer 2019 - his first ever ensemble as a leader - featuring Eero Koivistoinen, Juhani Aaltonen, Seppo Kantonen and Ulf Krokfors.
