Suistamon Sähkö is a Tampere-based quartet founded in 2015, blending Karelian folk tradition with ethno-techno and hip-hop. The band grew out of accordionist Anne-Mari Kivimäki's doctoral research into Karelian accordion heritage, and takes its name from Suistamo - one of the largest municipalities ceded to the Soviet Union in 1944. Known for high-energy live shows that mix rap, synthesizers and a Soviet-made toy accordion, the group has performed across Europe, the United States and Japan.
Suistamon Sähkö released their fourth album 'Lunta tupaan' via Playground in April 2026 and began touring Finland in support of it.
The band released the single 'Bailaa jne.' - originally submitted as their Eurovision entry proposal - ahead of the new album.
Suistamon Sähkö released the single 'Juuret' featuring Ismo Alanko, themed around migration and roots, as part of a Työväen Sivistysliitto campaign.
The band performed at the Juhla Festival in Tokyo in November 2025, continuing their international touring.
