Suzanne Vega is an American singer-songwriter from New York who rose to international fame in the 1980s as a leading voice of the folk revival. Her 1987 album Solitude Standing went platinum and produced two global hits - 'Luka' and 'Tom's Diner' - the latter of which also played a quiet but pivotal role in the development of the MP3 format, earning her the nickname 'The Mother of the MP3'. Now on her tenth studio album, Flying with Angels (2025), she remains one of the most distinctive and literate voices in American songwriting.
