The Amity Affliction is an Australian post-hardcore and metalcore band from Gympie, Queensland, formed in 2003. Over nine studio albums they built one of Australia's biggest heavy-music followings, landing five No. 1 records on the ARIA Charts and surpassing one billion streams worldwide. Their ninth album, House of Cards, was released in April 2026 via Pure Noise Records - the first without founding member Ahren Stringer, who was fired in February 2025.
The ninth studio album House of Cards was released on 24 April 2026 via Pure Noise Records, produced by guitarist Dan Brown and featuring new bassist/vocalist Jonathan Reeves.
The band announced a European headline tour for autumn 2026 in support of House of Cards, with support from Silent Planet, Varials, and Orthodox.
Founding bassist and vocalist Ahren Stringer was officially fired on 14 February 2025; the band cited 'certain behaviours that have been directed at ourselves and those close to us' and announced they would continue as a three-piece.
A trademark dispute erupted in February 2025 when Stringer applied to register the 'Amity' trademark and vocalist Joel Birch filed a formal opposition, triggering an ongoing legal battle over the band's name.
Corporate filings revealed the company behind the band entered a formal debt-restructuring process in July 2025 to manage approximately $646,000 in debt, primarily owed to the Australian Taxation Office.
