Timo Lassy Band

About

Timo Lassy Band is a Finnish jazz quintet led by Helsinki-born saxophonist and composer Timo Lassy (b. 1974), who trained at the Sibelius Academy and the Amsterdam Conservatory. The band blends hard-swinging jazz with soul, Latin and electronic influences, and has been called "one of Europe's sharpest bands" by The Sunday Times. Lassy has won both the Emma Award for Jazz Album of the Year and the Yrjö Award for Jazz Musician of the Year, and his work has drawn praise from Gilles Peterson and DownBeat magazine.
