HUOLTO 4:18

HUOLTO 4:18 is an anarchist tragicomedy created in collaboration between Myllyteatern and Helsinki 98. Humor erupts and reveals something we do not wish to see. The performance opens a brutal portrait of a single institutional worker's inner landscape in an era when the resources of the precariat are completely exhausted.

A site-specific performance built in the old Vuosaaren gymnasium invites the audience into a decaying school building. It breathes dust and the past.

On stage stands one figure: an aging clown and current institutional caretaker Myrsky Hartikainen. The school is closed and his own future threatened. All that remains is a storage room full of memories - and insomnia that gnaws at the edges of reason.

The performance draws inspiration from Kae Tempest's album Let Them Eat Chaos, Todd Phillips' film Joker, and Sarah Kane's play 4.48 Psychosis. The multidisciplinary team consists of creators working in object theatre, performance art, clowning, and absurd theatre, generating a stage language that is simultaneously grotesque, touchingly unpredictable, and cutting in its precision.

At the work's core lies dark clown aesthetics: nothing is sacred and everything is possible. This clown does not comfort - the clown reveals.
