HUOLTO 4:18 — Vuosaaren tilajakamo, Helsinki
Description was written before the event

HUOLTO 4:18 is an anarchist tragicomedy created as a co-production between Myllyteater and Helsinki 98. The play opens a brutal window into the inner world of an institutional worker - in an era when the resources of the precariat are completely exhausted.

The performance is site-specific: it is built into the old Vuosaari high school, and the audience is invited into a decaying school building. On stage is one character - an old clown and current institutional janitor Iika Hartikainen. The school is closed, the future threatened - all that remains is a storage room full of memories and insomnia that gnaws at the edges of reason.

The work draws inspiration from Kae Tempest's album Let Them Eat Chaos, Todd Phillips' film Joker, and Sarah Kane's play 4.48 Psychosis. The multidisciplinary team combines object theatre, performance art, clowning, and absurd theatre - at its core is dark clown aesthetics: nothing is sacred and everything is possible.
