A Helsinki-born singer-songwriter active since 1979, Nurmio has shaped Finnish rock with 19 studio albums and lyrics that entered everyday Finnish speech. His stage name - 'Tuomari' means judge - comes from his law degree, and he remains the only rock artist to have won the Eino Leino literary prize.
