Letkaliiter Dances: Marita Taavitsainen and Her Band

Marita Taavitsainen was crowned Tango Queen in 1995, but her breakthrough into the mainstream came in 1998 when Andre won the Autumn Melody competition. The album Secret Garden, released following the victory, went platinum in less than two months, and her next album One Single Glance reached gold status.

Taavitsainen has been awarded the Emma Prize for Female Artist of the Year and the Schlager Finlandia Prize. She also has a Finnish Eurovision entry on her resume. In November 2016, she received the Kullervo Linna Foundation Prize, awarded in recognition of contributions to Finnish entertainment and dance music.
